Fact Checked: These pictures of ‘Welcome Modi Ji’ written on London buses are old

Date:

A few pictures of buses with welcome Modi Ji written on them have surfaced on social media.

#लंदन की सभी सिटी बसों पर भी #Welcome_Modi_Ji लिख दिया गया।
इतना सम्मान आज तक किसी भी राष्ट्र के #प्रधानमंत्री को नहीं मिला है।” – the caption reads.

(Translation – All the city buses in London have ‘ welcome Modi Ji” written on it. No other Prime Minister has been given this kind of respect)

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile team fact-checked the viral post, we found out that the pictures were old.

When we did a search using the keywords, ‘welcome Modi’, ‘bus’ and ‘London’ we came across many news reports dated back to 2018.

An article by ABP News dated 2018 had the same image.

Interestingly, in 2015, before PM Modi’s visit to the UK, ‘Modi Express’ launched. An article published by Indian Express on October 13, 2015, stated that the bus was launched for a month-long tour around iconic landmarks in London.

This proves that the pictures being circulated are old and the post is misleading.
