Congress will sweep all 7 seats in Delhi: Sheila Dikshit

Date:

Sheila Dikshit, Congress candidate from north-east Delhi Lok Sabha seat, on Monday asserted that her party would sweep all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi because of the unmatched achievements of the 15-year Congress rule in the national capital.

Addressing a public meeting in north-east Delhi, Dikshit said, “The Congress will sweep all the seven seats in Delhi on the strength of the previous Congress government’s unmatched achievements in the state during its 15-year rule.”

The former Delhi chief minister said during her tenure, the city witnessed massive development as new flyovers, schools, colleges and hospitals were constructed to make the life of citizens easier, without crying for full statehood.

The Congress leader also accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of fooling people on full statehood issue.

“Kejriwal is fooling the people of the national capital on the issue of full statehood for Delhi,” she said, adding that, “Ever since Kejriwal came to politics, he has been mouthing lies and making hollow promises to fool people. But the intelligent Delhi voters have seen through his game plan.”

She said to get full statehood for Delhi, the Constitution needed to be amended, which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could not achieve without the support of the majority in Parliament.

Sheila is contesting against BJP’s Manoj Tiwari and AAP’s Dilip Pandey from north-east Delhi parliamentary constituency.

Polling in all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will be held in the sixth phase on May 12. Results for all the 543 seats will be announced on May 23.
