PM Modi shreds Congress manifesto; calls it ‘dishonest’ and ‘full of lies’

Date:

Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh): A day after Congress released its manifesto for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called the manifesto ‘dishonest’ and full of lies as the party’s leadership.

“It is not a ghoshnapatra (manifesto) but a dhakosla-patra (hypocritical document),” PM Modi said while addressing a rally in Arunachal Pradesh.

Congress released its manifesto on Tuesday which is focused on poverty alleviation under the NYAY scheme, generation of jobs, a reformed Goods and Services Tax, double budget for education and free healthcare.

The manifesto also talks about decriminalising laws like those on sedition and defamation.

“What has happened to these people,” PM Modi said at his rally in Pasighat.

“On one hand this chowkidar is standing here trying to protect the country and on the other hand this power-hungry Congress has stooped so low. Is the Congress’s hand with the citizens or with anti-nationals,” PM Modi added.

He also accused past Congress governments of ignoring the northeast and overlooking the region in their schemes.

“2019 elections is an election between truth and lies, between those who deliver and those who make false promises, between those you can trust and those who are corrupt,” PM Modi said.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday had alleged that the manifesto is “dangerous and un-implementable, and an agenda for Balkanisation of India”.
