Accusing the TMC government of stalling central schemes for the uplift of the poor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday termed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the ‘speed breaker’ in the state’s development.
Addressing a rally in the state, Modi said he was waiting for the “speed breaker” to go to allow development to gather pace in West Bengal.
“There is a speed breaker in West Bengal whom you know by the name of ‘Didi’. This ‘Didi’ is the speed-breaker in your development,” PM Modi said.
NDA’s development agenda moves at record pace.

Modi also claimed that the TMC supremo did not allow the people to benefit from the Ayushman Bharat scheme (centre’s flagship health scheme).
“I ensured speedy development took place across the country. But, the same did not happen here. Development at a fast pace here is difficult. I am waiting for this ‘speed breaker’ to go so that development can gather speed,” the Prime Minister said.
Hitting out at PM Modi over his claim that the TMC government did not do anything, Banerjee termed Modi as “expiry babu” and questioned what his government has done in the last five years.

“He is an expiry babu. His government has expired. You (Modi) said in Siliguri that we did not do anything for the poor. What have you done in the last five years? I have never seen a Prime Minister telling these many lies. Do not speak lies every day,” Banerjee said at a public rally in Bengal on Wednesday.
