As the election season kicks off, the leaders of Uttarakhand have taken a petition to ‘Golu Devta’, also known as the ‘God of Justice’ to help them win in the elections, near Almora. At the divine place of worship, the norm is to write handwritten petitions and hang them on bells.

The belief has strengthened since the time that former CM of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat visited the temple after Presidential rule was imposed on Uttarakhand. But after the visit, the Presidential rule was declared unconstitutional.
It is also a huge part of the culture of Uttarakhand to visit and pray to the holy deity before undertaking any major tasks. The belief of people in Uttarakhand is strong that ‘Golu Devta’ delivers justice and helps people, hence even politicians seek blessings during crucial times.
