Google Maps users can now report accidents, speed traps through latest update

Google Maps is now adding a new feature which allows users to report a case of an accident or a speed trap within the app.

The feature is rolling out globally to all users of Google Maps and has now gone official after months of testing. The feature can be accessed through a new button which will be available when navigation through the map. The button takes the shape of a messaging icon with a ‘+’ sign inside it.

Upon clicking the reporting feature, users will be greeted with an option to report a speed trap or report an accident when navigating. The reported incident will be directly sent to Google and Maps will also display other incidents that have been reported in the neighbourhood. Furthermore, Maps will also decide an alternate route for yip in case of a genuine issue.

Accident and speed trap reporting on Google Maps is currently being rolled out globally to all users of the app and can be accessed only when using the navigation feature inside the app.
