If you are a runner, then this is the time to rejoice as the beautiful marathons to run in India this year include scenic and gorgeous views. Through the mountains, past rivers, along beaches and through coffee estates – plan and take your pick!

Go heritage run, Gwalior 

Run through the 10th-century city of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, amid the historic palaces, temples and sandstone monuments.

Ganga run, Varanasi

Run along the holy river Ganga in the pious city of Varanasi. This is a woman only marathon, especially dedicated to the International Women’s Day.

Details: 5km, 10km and 21km run

Coffee trails, Coorg 

This marathon takes you along the beautiful coffee plantations of Coorg and three peaks—Kabbe Motte, Chomakund and Thadiandamol.

Details: 31km and 62km uphill run

Race day: 24 March; On the spot registration

Hennur Bamboo ultramarathon, Bengaluru 

The Hennur Bamboo forest is a 40km stretch of greenery and dirt track in the northeast of Bengaluru. This course was created keeping in mind nature lovers and adventurers with the rows of bamboo trees on either sides providing an amazing trail for runners.

The category for the marathon starts from 10 km for beginners upto a solid 250km for professionals.

Details: Pick from 10km, 20km, 30km, 80km, 100km, 161km, 210km and 250km marathons

Race day: 29 March-31March; registration closes 17 March
