The magical Lady Gaga; an icon who only knows how to break records!

Date:

It’s not easy being the most sought-after singer in the world. It’s even tougher to be a consistent Grammy award winner. And it’s even more magical when you happen to be the world’s first celebrity artist to win three major awards in the same year. For Lady Gaga, the bar only gets raised higher than ever before.

She has been on an award-winning spree off late. On 24th of February 2019, Lady Gaga won her first Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘Shallow’. Earlier, she also won a Grammy and a Golden Globe for the same. This is indeed a feat for the feisty, outspoken, daring-to-go woman who has enthralled the music world consistently for a while now.

She has, in the past, broken records too. In 2011, Gaga was nominated for six Grammy Awards, and won three. Her third album, Artpop (2013), won the award for World’s Best Album by a Female at the 2014 World Music Awards.

Here’s a trip down the memory lane, to get a peek into the life and likes of an artist who rose to such massive stardom and so quickly.

And the award goes to….
She rose to prominence with the release of her debut album ‘The Fame’ in 2008. The album won several awards and was nominated for six Grammy Awards, including album of the year. The album and its single ‘Poker Face’ won best electronic/dance album and best dance recording, respectively, at the 52nd Grammy Awards. The album also won the best international album at the 2010 BRIT Awards.

Again, in 2009, she came up with the ‘The Fame Monster’. The music videos of the songs won eight accolades from a total of thirteen nominations at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), making Gaga the most nominated artist in VMA history for a single year and the first female artist to receive two nominations for ‘Video of the Year’ in one single night. In 2011, Gaga was nominated for six Grammy Awards, and won three.

Born This Way (2011), Gaga’s second studio album won the her the People’s Choice Awards for Album of the Year. Her third album, Artpop (2013), won the award for World’s Best Album by a Female at the 2014 World Music Awards.

In 2015, she was named ‘Woman of the Year’ by Billboard. She also became the first woman to receive the Digital Diamond Award from RIAA and the first artist to win the Songwriters Hall of Fame’s Contemporary Icon Award for ‘attaining an iconic status in pop culture’.  She also received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and nominations at the 42nd People’s Choice Awards and 20th Satellite Awards for her role in the fifth season of American Horror Story, titled ‘Hotel’.
In 2013, she finished second on Time’s readers’ poll about the most influential people of the past ten years.
In 2018, Gaga starred in the remake of ‘A Star Is Born’. The rest, as they say is history!
