Fact Check: RaGa, Ghulam Nabi were not taking oath against Hinduism

A video of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Nabi Azad is making rounds on social media in which the two Congress leaders are seen offering namaz with few members of the Muslim community.

The video has been widely shared on social media claiming that Muslims are taking the oath against Hindus and to demolish Hinduism in India in front of Rahul Gandhi and Gulam Nabi Azad.

One of the caption by a Facebook user read: “Watch the video carefully. Muslims are taking Oath infront of Rahul Gandhi and Gulam Nabi Azad against Hindus & and to demolish Hinduism in India. They are praying for Muslim Kingdom India. Please forward this message to all our Hindus for protecting ourselves by voting against this dirty Congress.”

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile Fact Checked the claims and the video we found that the video is real but the claims attached with it are baseless.

When we put the frames of the video through Reverse Image Search, we found that the viral video was shot on September 09, 2016 when Rahul Gandhi and Ghulam Nabi Azad paid tribute at Ambedkar Nagar’s Kichhocha Sharif Dargah.

The video was uploaded on the YouTube channel of news channel Samay on September 10, 2016. It’s caption read: “Rahul Gandhi visit to Kichaucha Sharif Dargah in Ambedkar Nagar”.

Both Congress leaders raised their hands in prayer and not for the oath.

Hence, the video is true but he was not part of any oath taking ceremony against Hindu ceremony.
