Beggar donates Rs 6.61 lakhs to the martyrs of Pulwama attack

Ajmer: An elderly beggar by the name of Nandini Sharma and a regular presence at the Ambe Mata Temple at Bajrangarh in Ajmer had saved up a huge amount of Rs 6.61 lakhs before she passed away in August 2018, according to ANI. She had entrusted her trustees of the temple with the money and asked them to donate it for a noble cause which would benefit the nation.

She accumulated the amount by begging outside the temple and made it a habit to put her savings into a bank account. Before she passed away, she prepared a will and nominated two trustees to safeguard her account. The trustees have been waiting for the right opportunity to give away her savings for a good cause. They decided to donate money to the Chief Minister Relief Fund in accordance with her wish. She was treated well by the devotees and the temple staff and hence she entrusted her savings with the staff.

“The trustees came to the district administration office on Wednesday and expressed their desire to donate money to the chief minister relief fund for the attack victims. The legal cell completed the formalities following which, the amount was accepted and a certificate was issued to them,” said Ajmer collector Vishwa Mohan Sharma.

Four Army men including a Major were martyred in an encounter in J&K’s Pulwama on 18 February, days after 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a deadly suicide attack carried out by Jaish-e-Mohammad in the same area on 14 February. After these heinous attacks, people from all over the nation have come forward to support the families of the martyred jawans.

The news spread like wildfire among the devotees at the temple and they held special prayer service dedicated to her.
