Chandigarh: Following Navjot Singh Sidhu’s controversial comments the Pulwama attack, Shiromani Akali Dal on Monday demanded the dismissal of Sidhu from the Vidhan Sabha.
Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia and the cricketer-turned-politician exchanged barbs in the House.
Earlier in the day before the beginning of the Punjab Budget session, Akali leaders led by Majithia burnt the photographs of Sidhu hugging the Pakistan Army chief, outside the House.

In the Assembly, Majithia and his supporters shouted slogans against Sidhu and held up copies of the photographs. The legislators, who were wearing black badges, also tried to disrupt the reply of Sidhu by shouting slogans against him.
Meanwhile, Sidhu retaliated saying that he is firm on his stand and said country’s fight is against terrorism and perpetrators of terror.
“I am firm on my stand. Terrorism will not be tolerated. People who are responsible should be punished so harshly that it acts as deterrence for generations to come,” Sidhu said.
Sidhu had visited Pakistan to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan, a cricketer-turned-politician, in August.
“Before everything else, we want to know the clear stand of the Congress and the Punjab government. Do they condemn Pakistan Army Chief and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan?” Majithia was quoted in reports.
