Sensex ends 119.51 points down at 36034.11, Nifty at 10793.70 in choppy trade

Domestic equity benchmark indexes erased gains on Wednesday with the Sensex falling as much as 341 points from day’s highest level to 36,035 and the NSE Nifty 50 index declined as much as 78 points from day’s highest level to touch intraday low of 10,814.

The Sensex closed 119 points down at 36,034.11, while the Nifty closed 37.70 points down at 10793.70.

Official data showed on Tuesday that consumer inflation in January stood at the lowest level recorded since June 2017. Also, industrial production (Index of Industrial Production) picked up to 2.4 per cent in December, from 0.3 per cent in the previous month.
