MiG-27 crashes near Pokhran range, pilot ejects safely

A MiG 27 fighter aircraft crashed this evening in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. The pilot of the crashed MiG 27 jet was reported to be safe.

The pilot, however, was ejected successfully, said Defence spokesperson Col Sombit Ghosh.

An Indian Air Force Court of Inquiry will be set up to investigate the MiG 27 crash in Jaisalmer today.

 

“A MIG 27 aircraft airborne from Jaisalmer crashed during a routine mission today evening. Pilot ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry will investigate the cause of the accident,” Defence spokesperson Col Sombit Ghosh was quoted as saying by the news agency.

The MiG-27 jet is a Soviet Union-designed fighter aircraft and is among the several fighter jets that the Indian Air Force operates. The Indian Air Force also operates the MiG 21 and the MiG 29.
