Central tag for Patna University if Congress comes to power: Rahul Gandhi

Date:

Addressing the Jan Akanksha Rally at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, promised to provide central tag for Patna University if the Congress comes to power in the Centre.

This public rally was the first organised by the Congress at Gandhi Maidan in nearly three decades.

In a scathing attack on PM Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi said that earlier the chant was ‘ Acche Din Aayenge’ but now it is ‘Chowkidar chor hain.’ The amount of money that has been given to one Anil Ambani is enough to fund three MGNREGA, he said.

“Prime Minister has put Rs 30,000 crore in Anil Ambani’s pocket and only Rs 17 in the pocket of farmers, ” Congress president added.

Talking about the education system in Bihar, he said, “What have you done for Patna University? What have you done for the employment of the youths of Bihar?… But now, Bihar is no more a centre of education. It is the centre of unemployment.”

He slammed BJP members for clapping continuously for 5 minutes during interim budget after announcing the basic income of Rs 17 per day for farmers, which amounts to Rs 3.5 per member of the family. He said that PM Modi had promised Rs 15 lakh to the people of Bihar but failed to keep that promise.

“PM Modi came and decided that he does not like the Rs 500 note or Rs 1,000 note. He made the common man stand in lines in front of the banks to get rid of black money, ” taking a dig at the demonetisation move of the government.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was also present at the rally. Praising Rahul Gandhi, he said “Rahul Gandhi has the ability to be the prime minister. Narendra Modi is the seller of lies. We have to be united to defeat the BJP. They carry out riots, be alert.”
