In a major setback for the Congress ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, Congress MP from West Bengal’s Malda (North) constituency, Mausam Benazir Noor, on Monday joined Trinamool Congress (TMC).
“I am inspired by Didi (Mamata). I’ll work under her guidance for the development of the state. We have to fight against the BJP and I am quite confident that the TMC will win all the 42 seats in West Bengal in the coming Lok Sabha elections,” she was quoted as saying by PTI.

Her decision comes after she met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state Secretariat Nabanna recently and formally joined the party.
She was in touch with the TMC leadership and was in favour of a tie-up with the TMC for 2019.
However, Noor has now decided to make a complete shift to the TMC. She will be made a general secretary, who will be in charge of four north Bengal districts for the 2019 general elections campaign.
The West Bengal CM also announced that Noor will be fielded from her choice of seat from Malda.
