An international boutique cruise docked at the Vishakhapatnam Port on Thursday, for the first time ever. Silver Discoverer, is a seven-star liner, built in Russia in 1989. The route of the ship was from Trincomalee in Sri Lanka via Chennai. There were about a hundred tourists from USA and Europe in the cruise who were given a warm grand welcome during the city tour by the higher officials.

Special stalls of coffee, toys, and exclusive handloom products were arranged by Andhra Pradesh tourism department. Gopal Krishna, the union shipping secretary welcomed the cruise and stated that Vizag could easily turn into a tourist destination for cruise lovers owing to its advantages and could open more employment opportunities for the workers.
Last month, the government sanctioned a 77-crore project last month to make the Vizag port and soon it will be ready to get a cruise-cum-coastal cargo terminal.

Silver Discoverer is functioned by Silversea Cruises, a Monaco-based company which is also the developer of eight other ultra-luxury cruises. While the smaller vessels accommodate about 100 tourists, the larger have space enough for 540 tourists at a time.
