Sensex, Nifty settle lower on global cues; ahead of key economic data

Benchmark Sensex and Nifty settled lower on Monday mirroring losses across the globe. However, both indices bounced back from the day’s low due to gains in Infosys Ltd.

The benchmark BSE Sensex closed the session  156.28 points lower at 35,853.56, while the broader Nifty ended 57.35 points down at 10,737.60.

Shares of Jet Airways jumped over 18 percent after a report that Chairman Naresh Goyal was likely to step down from its board.

Market sentiment also turned cautious ahead of the release of inflation data – WPI, CPI.
