Delhi boy killed in celebratory firing; father emerges as the main accused

Date:

The police have arrested a 42-year-old man, identified as Yasin Malik for reportedly killing his son at a celebratory filing in northeast Delhi’s New Usmanpur.

The arrest was made after a 90-second video clip asserted that the eight-year-old boy was shot dead during celebratory firing.

On December 31, Rehan was hit by a bullet on his right cheek during the celebratory firing. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

On further probe, the police find out that Yasin, father of the deceased, was the accused. Yasin has taken the firearm from Ravi Kashyap, 21, a resident of Loni in Uttar Pradesh.

“When we approached Yasin, the boy’s father, he allegedly broke down and confessed. We have also arrested his friend, Ravi Kashyap, who brought the pistol,” the police said.

Atul Kumar Thakur, DCP (Northeast) said that around 50 suspects were questions. “We have also recovered the pistol from their possession,” Thakur said.

In another such incident, a woman architect died when a former JD(U) MLA fired celebratory shots in the air during a New Year’s Eve party at his farmhouse in Fatehpur Beri.  JD (U) MLA Raju Singh was later detained in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur city.
