The top Health and wellness trends that changed 2018

Date:

2018 has been a year of surprises. From politics to world news, everything has given a new meaning to trends.
Health and wellness too underwent a major change in 2018. People became more conscious about their body, the food they eat and the importance of long-term wellness.

So, what were the biggest health trends of 2018 that entered people houses and stayed. Lets have a look.

The new milk options –
Cow and buffalo milk are passé, it’s is soy milk that became the rage. People moved to other milk choices that turned out to be healthier and easier on the palate. So oat milk, protein based drinks and sesame milk took over the shelves.

Tracking machines –
Fitbit, apple watches and exercise trackers took over almost every possible wrist. These fitness accessories track fitness efforts by keeping track of calories burned, steps taken and also monitor heart beat and sleep pattern. A complete craze that helped people realise the importance of a fit body and mind.

Sulphate free beauty products –
2018 was a year of wellness awareness. Most people across the world ditched parabens, sulphates and all sorts of other additives in skincare and haircare products and moved to more herbal, organic and chemical free alternatives. 2019 will see these products getting more far reaching acceptance.

The love of dieting –
Yes, it was the year of wellness and also the enhancement of the love with dietary plans. People wanted to experiment and try new diets, new plans, new ways to keep fit and lose weight. The ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting were the buzz words around the world. Fruit based and vegan diets also increased their reach.

Fitness regimes –
Fitness took over and how! The biggest trend that came forward was the rise of group fitness classes. The collective energy outflow was larger than the personal fitness trend of earlier years. Professional help, gym space and efficient utilisation of time and energy were the prime detonators of this trend. Also, the rise of mobile activity will be the highlight in 2019.

Healthy usage of appliances –
The Air Fryer made it to almost every kitchen in the world. Frying took on a new meaning. Its ability to make crispy fried foods, without any oil, was an eye opener.

Plastic free world –
More and more people advocated the ban of plastic and related products. The ill effects of plastic were hugely advertised and spoken about. Steel, copper and aluminium returned to most households. This is touted to be one of the most severe issues facing the earth and plastic ban is increasingly becoming a welcome reality. 2019 will see more usage of reusable bags, food wraps and more.
