Merecedes-Benz set to make a comeback in the MPV segment this new year

Mercedes-Benz is all set to start the New Year in high spirits and a comeback into the MPV segment with the new V-Class.

The German automaker will be launching the new V-Class in India on January 24, 2019. It is available in three dimensions in the global market- 4985 mm, 5140 mm and an extra-long wheelbase version which measures at 5370 mm.

The Mercedes MPV is offered in an eight-seater variant where both second and third row get three executive seats as well as a seven-seat variant where the second row gets two executive seats. The second row of seats can also be rotated towards the door which eases the movement of getting in and out of the car. In addition to this, the V-class comes with a luxury sleeper option too, where the rear-most seats fold to form a bed. However, whether or not this option will be available in India is yet to be confirmed.

Advanced features like the lane keep assist, 360-degree camera view, blind spot detection, etc. are features from the global model that are expected to be available in the India models as well, as the Mercedes-Benz V-Class will be launched in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will be imported from Spain.

The Indian market is most likely to get the OM654 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which is BS-VI complaint unlike the European market multiple engine options. It produces 191 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque.

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class is is likely to start around Rs 75-80 lakh (ex-showroom).
