Dilli Chalo; farmers to protest in Delhi on November 29-30

On November 29 and 30, the national capital is expected to witness around one lakh farmers a participating in the kisan mukti march.

Farmers affiliated to over 200 farmer-organizations are expected to join this march, which is being organised under the banner of All India Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC).

The farmers’ demands for a special 21 days session of the Parliament, that will discuss the farmers’ suicides and the raging agrarian crisis that led to these suicides.

“If the government can call a special midnight session for passing the Goods and Services Tax, why can’t they convene a session to discuss the problems faced by crores of farmers in the country,” asked All India Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) convenor V M Singh is quoted as saying by Business Line.

In this ‘Dilli Chalo’ march, farmers will congregate at four points of the city on 29 November and start marching towards the Ramlila Grounds located in central Delhi. From there, they will march towards Parliament the next day to demand that two private member bills be passed, along with the demand for the special session.

‘Dilli Chalo’ is a very well organized march with also a website to its name where you can get all the information regarding the march and the demands.

“We are making a determined attempt to reach out to all sections of people across India because the agrarian crisis ultimately affects everyone. Our attempt is to generate an understanding of the long historical processes, especially of the past two decades, that has precipitated the agrarian crisis,” the ‘Dilli Chalo’website states.
