Maruti Suzuki launches second generation Ertiga at Rs 7.44 lakh

Maruti Suzuki, on Wednesday, launched the second generation 2018 Ertiga in India, with an initial price tag of Rs 7.44 lakh.

The 7- seater Multi- purpose Vehicle (MPV) will be available in both petrol and a diesel engine variants. The petrol variant will get both automatic (priced between Rs 9.18-9.95 lakh)and manual gearbox (priced between Rs 7.44-9.50 lakh) while the diesel variant will only get a 5-speed manual option. The diesel variant will be priced between Rs 8.84-10.90 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new Ertiga gets an all new design language that makes it a lot better- looking as compared to the previous generation. The car features headlamps with projector lens along and a set of boomerang- shaped LED tail lamps. The new Ertiga features the same 15-inch alloy wheels on the top spec models as the old model, while the lower models continue to get the 15-inch steel wheels with or without wheelcaps.

The second generation Ertiga is a bigger, wider and longer making more room for passengers as well as luggage in the car. The top spec models pack features like touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car features roof mounted AC vents for the third row and wooden inserts on the dashboard and steering wheel, giving the interiors a premium touch. It offers a boot capacity of 209 litres, which can be expanded to 809 litres when the second third row sit folded.

 

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga diesel variant houses the same engine as its previous generation- the 1.3-litre DDIS 200 engine, while the petrol variant gets a new 1.5-litre K15 motor. The diesel engine model churns out 89 bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol engine model creates a power output of 103 bhp of peak power and 138 Nm of peak torque.

Both the petrol and the diesel Maruti Suzuki Ertiga get the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) mild hybrid systems. They will not be available with a CNG option as of now but are estimated to get one soon.
