Date:

With 2019 general elections just months away, all parties are gearing for a big fight and social media proves to be an important tool in all this.

Recently, a video has been doing rounds on Facebook, claiming to be of a faulty Electronic Voting Machines in the first phase of Chhattisgarh polls that took place on November 12, where the vote went to BJP even when the button for any other party is pressed.

The caption of the video reads,” देखो सबूत के साथ छत्तीसगढ़ विधानसभा सभा चुनाव में बटन कोई भी दबाओ वोट भाजपा को.”

FACT CHECK

When we used the key works ‘faulty EVM vote goes to BJP’ and searched it on Google, we came across many reports dated back in 2017.

The research told us that the incident took place in November 2017, in Meerut during Upttar Pradesh municipal elections. The videos show a man claiming that his vote went to BJP even though he voted for BSP.

Incidentally, the man in both the videos are same wearing exactly same cloths, proving that the recent video is not of Chhattisgarh election but is of Uttar Pradesh civic polls.

With elections just around the corner, many news will surface online. And with so much going on, it becomes difficult to figure out if a certain news is real or not. So before you share any news, make sure that you are forwarding the correct information.
