Despite the mixed reviews especially on social media the Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ became the first Bollywood film to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in earnings on the first day it hit the screens.
The multi-starrer flick, which released on November 8, raked in a whopping Rs. 52.25 crore on the opening day, including releases in other languages – Tamil and Telugu-dubbed versions.
With it, the action-adventure film – which features Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles – has also become the biggest Diwali opener of all time. Moreover, this makes it the biggest opener of 2018, so far.
‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’ and is about a gang who posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India (then known as Hindustan or Hindostan) during the early 19th century.
In the run-up to its release the makers of the movie revealed behind the scene videos from the sets at regular intervals. One of them featured Aamir and Amitabh as the two sang praises for each other.
Katrina shared a behind the scene video from the film where she was shooting for the song ‘Suraiyya’. In the clip, she can be seen doing a rather difficult dance step that required a lot of energy and skill. Along with this impressive video, she also shared the backstory.
Speaking about this number, she disclosed that this step, in particular, was a challenge for her, which she had faced during rehearsals as well. Katrina spoke about how even after practising it many times, she was not entirely confident with it. So, this particular step was saved for the last day of the song shoot, which is when this video was taken.
