Congress-JD(S) alliance wins 4 of 5 seats in Karnataka Bypolls

The Diwali celebration has seemed to have begun a day early in Karnataka with Congress-JD(S) alliance winning 4 Lok Sabha constituency of the 5 that went to polls.

The Congress party has won Jamkhandi Assembly constituencies and leading in Ballari while the JD(S) has won both Mandya and Ramanagara assembly seats.

Meanwhile, BJP only managed to bag the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency.

“There are 28 LS seats, we’ll work with Congress to win all of them, that is our goal, This is not an empty boast just because we have won today. This is the confidence of people in us. This win is not making us arrogant,” Kumaraswamy said after the huge win.

Anand Siddu Nyamagouda, Congress candidates from Jamkhandi defeated his BJP rival Srikant Kulkarni by a margin of 39,480 votes. While, Anitha Kumaraswamy of the JD(S), wife of CM Kumaraswamy won Ramanagara assembly seat by a huge margin of 1,09,137.

The bypolls hold was seen as the crucial one before the 2019 general elections and the 5 state elections that would take place in December 2018.
