The Statue of Unity will be world’s tallest statue at 597 ft on completion. Dedicated to the Iron Man of India, Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, who was also the first Deputy Prime Minister the statue is located in Gujarat.

Facing the Narmada Dam, on the river island called Sadhu Bet near Vadodara , the statue will occupy over 20,000 square meters, and will be surrounded by a 12 square km artificial lake.

Currently world’s tallest statue is the Spring Temple Buddha in China at 420 feet, while the Statue of Liberty in the US is 305 ft high.

Initially, the total cost of the project construction was estimated to be about Rs 3,001 crore. However, Larsen & Toubro won the contract in October 2014 for its lowest bid of Rs 2,989 crore for the design, construction and maintenance.

 

The statute is located facing the Narmada Dam, 3.2 km away on the river island called Sadhu Bet near Vadodara.

The statute will occupy over 20,000 square meters, and will be surrounded by a 12 square km artificial lake.
