Google employee steals money for girlfriend; gets arrested

An engineer in Delhi has been held for allegedly stealing Rs. 10,000 from a five-star hotel during a conference from a delegate’s handbag on Wednesday.

The accused Garvit Sahni hails from Ambala in Haryana and 24-years-old. He was identified by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi).

During the interrogation, the Google employee, Garvit admitted to the crime and with the reason being that he was facing financial issues and needed money for his girlfriend.

The conference organised by a media house and an IT firm was held on September 11 which both Garvit and the lady whose money was stolen were attending.

Without going into in-depth interrogation, on hearing the incident the first set of people to be suspected were the hotel staff members and the CCTV footage could also not detect anything.

The police found and arrested Garvit from his house and recovered Rs. 3,000 of the stolen amount. They are still investigating if there was anyone else involved in the theft.
