A clinical performance from the men in blue! Indian team on Friday produced an all-round show with both bat and ball as Indian captain Rohit Sharma played another classy knock after comeback man Ravindra Jadeja picked up a four-wicket haul to beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in their Super Four clash of the ongoing Asia Cup.
Jadeja, who claimed 10-0-29-4, including the key wickets of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, pinned Bangladesh down to 173. While Sharma with an unbeaten 83 off 104 balls led India’s thumping win in Dubai.
In the first innings, Bangladesh’s Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto started on a safer note. But Kedar Jadhav’s top-edge from Liton in the fifth over set the tone for the day. At 16 for2, Bangladesh looked up to the old guard of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim to rebuild the innings. However, Shakib perished due to a lapse in concentration in Jadeja’s opening over.

Mushfiqur, too, gifted his wicket away, with a reverse sweep straight to Yuzvendra Chahal at the point, soon after Mohammad Mithun was trapped in front by Jadeja. At 65 for 5, Mahmudullah and Mosaddek Hossain tried to get some runs to the scoreboard. But their 36-run association ended abruptly with the former being adjudged leg-before his bat. Captain Mortaza and off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz then added 66 for the eighth wicket to avoid Bangladesh being bowled out cheaply, well before its stipulated 50 overs.
The second innings started with Captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan hitting boundaries in thick and fast. Giving a solid start to India, Dhawan and Sharma went onto build a 50-run partnership. Shakib Al Hasan, however, struck and trapped Dhawan for an LBW. Looking to get a boundary in every over and keeping the scoreboard ticking, Sharma and Dinesh Karthik ended the innings at 174/3 and beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets.
