Skoda’s special edition of Rapid has a tag of Rs. 9.75 lakh

Skoda launched the Rapid Onyx edition on Thursday at an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 9.75 lakh. The special edition Rapid has unique features like the 16-inch “Clubber” alloy wheels, black wing mirrors, and a black finish on the grille, boot and side moulding, projector headlamps with black inserts and LED daytime running lamps. The car will be available in two shades only– Lapiz Blue and Candy White.

The Rapid Onyx edition have light brown interiors with perforated beige seats and leatherette upholstery. A standard touchscreen infotainment system with the Smartlink feature and a flat bottom steering wheel with black stitching have also been added to the interiors and a rear sunshade and unique scuff plates with Onyx lettering feature as well.

The powertrain of the car has the same 1.5-litre diesel with 108 bhp and 1.6-litre petrol engine that churns out 103 bhp. The car is offered with a manual and automatic transmission options. The Rapid Onyx gives a fuel efficiency between 14.84 kmpl on the petrol automatic, going up to 21.72 kmpl on the diesel automatic. The Rapid Onyx comes with a standard 4 year service car and Roadside assistance.

Rapid Onyx edition is available in two petrol and diesel variants and two gearbox options. The 1.6 petrol-manual variant starts at Rs 9.75 lakh and the 1.6 petrol-automatic costs Rs 10.99 lakh. The Rapid Onyx diesel- manual variant starts at Rs 11.58 lakh, while the diesel-automatic variant is priced at Rs 12.73 lakh (all prices are ex- showroom prices)

The Rapid is a rival to the young Japanese Toyota Yaris, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento in the mid-size sedan segment.
