Aston Martin’s hypercar to follow Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro, in 2021

Date:

British sports car maker Aston Martin has confirmed its plans to build a hybrid super car code- named ‘003’ and will unveil it in 2021.

It will be the third high-performance, mid-engine car following Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro (called “001” and “002,” respectively) that made its first appearance in 2017 at the Geneva Auto Show.

The company executives have promised a road-legal vehicle built around “a lightweight structure” and powered by a turbocharged hybrid engine. They say the car will be fully homologated and available in all markets in both LHD and RHD.

The utility of the car is being designed for livable daily driving rather than track-only use and allocated some space for a small amount of luggage.

“It was vital to us that Valkyrie would create a legacy,” Palmer said. “The Project 003 … is our next step into a dynamic and exacting arena.”

The specs and details of the car aren’t released yet, though a sketch showing preliminary body styling slightly squared at the edges and rounded through the middle has been released by the company. The possibility of an open-top roadster version appearing eventually is expected.

After losing money in the recent years, the company’s last year’s revenue increased by half owing to the new models such as the DB11 and the company reported a pretax profit of £87 million ($116 million) added to the positive free cash flow, in May, 2018.

As stated by a spokeswoman, the 003 will hit the market in late 2021 though the first production vehicles will be seen during the second half of 2019 “not necessarily at an auto show”. Only 500 of the coupes will be sold worldwide.
