PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat: Key highlights

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi addressed the nation through his radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, on Sunday.

In the 47th edition of the monthly programme, Modi began his address by wishing everyone a happy Raksha Bandhan. He also added that in a few days time, the nation will be celebrating Janmashtami.

Prime Minister also greeted the nation on Sanskrit Diwas and said that the Sanskrit language has played a “stellar role” in the universal spread of knowledge.

He also conveyed Teachers’ Day wishes to the people.

On Kerala floods, PM said that the country stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Kerala, which is battling its worst-ever floods. He also appreciated the Armed personnel, NDRF teams and all others involved in the rescue and relief operations in Kerala.

The Prime Minister also paid homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, emphasising that he gave a new dimension to the political culture in India. “The affection and respect for Atal Ji from people across the country reflects his great personality,” Modi added.

The Prime Minister also touched upon simultaneous polls, calling it a “good sign” for democracy.

On the discussions of holding elections together, Modi said, “Monsoon Session of Parliament has successfully managed to raise its productivity by 118% in Lok Sabha, and by 74% in Rajya Sabha. This Monsoon Session shall forever be remembered as an exemplary move for social justice and well-being of youth.”

The Prime Minister also congratulated all the Indian players who have won medals in the ongoing Asian Games in Jakarta.
