Islamabad: Former Cricketer Imran Khan became the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan at a ceremony held at the President House on Saturday.
Khan, who outvoted opposition and PML-N candidate Shahbaz Sharif in the PM’s election on Friday, was administered his oath by President Mamnoon Hussain.
After taking the oath, Khan and his wife stepped down the stage to greet various guests.
Clad in a black sherwani, Khan arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (the President House) in Islamabad from his Banigala residence.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.

High-profile guests graced the ceremony which included former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, Rameez Raja, paceman Wasim Akram, singers Salman Ahmed and Abrarul Haq, actor Javaid Sheikh.
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi and many others were also present.
