Patna: A senior government official was shot dead on Tuesday by unidentified people at his Patna residence, says police. The suspects reached the house of Rajeev Kumar, a secretary in the state department of planning, around 4 AM.

The suspects had an argument with the official and after that they shot him dead, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sachivalay) Rajesh Singh Prabhakar told PTI. Rajni, the wife of the victim told the news channels that they had come with the intentions to loot but opened fire when her husband tried to resist.

Prabhakar, however, said, “We are investigating the matter from all angles. We suspect that some old enmity may also be behind the killing which the family is trying to hide.” The investigation is still on.
