There will soon be a woman from Gujarat to become the first lady ever to deliver a baby in spite of a uterus transplant in India. The uterus transplanted in her is her mother’s.
The lady underwent a uterus transplant in the Galaxy Care Hospital in Pune and currently, she is running in the 20th week of her pregnancy.
The director of the hospital, Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar told ANI that the lady was born without a uterus and her mother’s uterus has been transplanted in her and after 20 years, the uterus has started functioning perfectly.
The doctor also said that it was a risky and a difficult surgery as there were strong chances of the lady developing an infection after the transplant. This according to me, is the first delivery in India and 9th in the world.
The pregnant woman also expressed her happiness and said that her dream to become a mother would soon come true and that she is happy about the fact that the uterus for her baby would be the same as the uterus for her when she was born.
