Art and culture cannot be tied to any border. Such was the view on the streets of Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent, where an elderly Uzbek woman sang the song ‘Ichak Dana Beechak Dana’ from the film Shree 420 with the Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Earlier today, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar shared a video on Twitter captioned “Bollywood knows no boundaries! More so in Uzbekistan where Raj Kapoor and Nargis are household names. Salute to this Uzbek woman for her spirit as she hums the song Ichak Dana Beechak Dana from the classic Shri 420!”

Currently, Swaraj is on a three-nation tour to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. This is her first visit to the Central Asian countries as the External Affairs Minister.
In Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the EAM held talks with the leaders of both the countries, attended cultural programmes, and paid tribute to the former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at his memorial in Tashkent.
