The second set started with a completely shifted body language. On the trot at the start, Sindhu gave five points to a more confident, more agile and more powerful Marin. As Sindhu tried to defend to the best of her abilities, Marin kept on charging with each step and then eventually closed the gap for Sindhu to make any return.
Sindhu didn’t look her best and failed to make a comeback. While Marin absolutely dominated and finished a pretty easy second set by 21-10. Thus, becoming three-time World Champion (2014, 2015, 2018).
Sindhu and Marin, have met each other 11 times before in which the World No. 3 P V Sindhu has won the encounter 6 times, while Marin has won it 5 times. Despite the loss to Marin in the final, her silver medal would still count among Sindhu’s top performances.
