According to a research conducted recently, India is home to 277 fake engineering colleges. The fact to leave your surprised is that out of the total, 66 are in Delhi itself. Delhi tops the list of fake engineering colleges in India. These institutes are running courses without any approval of All India Council from Technical Education (AICTE).
AICTE is a centralised body formed by Parliament Act and under this acted, an approval is granted to start new technical institutions and new courses.
Satya Pal Singh, the Minister of State Human Resource Development produced a document in front of the Lok Sabha that showed Delhi topping list, followed by 35 such colleges in Telangana, 27 in West Bengal, 23 in Karnataka, 22 in Uttar Pradesh, 18 in Haryana, 16 in Maharashtra, and 11 in Tamil Nadu.
The minister further said in a report that University Grants Commission is looking into the matter and the heads of states have been notified of the same and have been asked to take stringent steps against these institutions. The official website already has a list of 24 fake universities.
