Do you remember the last time you went on a vacation and ordered food via hotel room service, while you were tucked in your bed to watch television or relax? Probably not, since anyone rarely orders food in the hotel rooms. They prefer to head out to explore different flavours or try the restaurants at the hotel premises. Vacations that used to be to relax are now to explore, experiment, and experience.
According to various reports, it was found that no body nowadays orders food from the in-room dining service at hotels.
One of the reasons that came to our knowledge and perhaps an obvious one is the hiked prices on in-room dining. Menus provided for room service are over-priced, in fact double of what one would pay at restaurants while dining in. Besides guests, room service turns out to be a costly affair for hotels as well since they have to generate a certain level of business through it, which they are unfortunately unable to.
Apart from the prices, a reason for a decline in this facility is that the travellers now prefer to try local flavours of the place they are in and it is only when they venture out that they can explore.
Also, instead of being restricted to the hotel restaurants, people have got used to ordering food from other restaurants of their choice. Once upon a time, online food delivery used be a luxury, but now every one is making full use of it.
So, now hotels have begun to tie-up with nearby restaurants that can deliver food at their premises for their guests. The restaurants partnered offer cheaper food, with lower delivery and packaging costs, and do not charge anything from the hotels. It also reduces the burden of the hotel management to bare any responsibility of the quality, taste and delivery of the food.
