It is the first time in Indian history and in the history of railways, a team of three women took the complete charge of a train carrying goods from Danapur station to Fatuha in Bihar. The team included two pilots and one guard.
The women driving the train were Soni Kumari and Vibha Kumari, and Swati Swaroop was the guard of the train. They covered a distance of 31 kilometres in coordination with the signals by station masters of different stations. They kept receiving signals that everything is going fine with the speed, drive and route and they kept proceeding. Some shipped consignments were being carried in the train and the total time taken by the pilots was one hour and twenty five minutes to reach the destination.
The DRM of Danapur station, Ranjan Prakash Thakur applauded the females and stated that it was easy to pilot passenger trains, but difficult to handle carriage trains. He also said that they would utilise the services of the three women for short distances to begin with and women RPF staff has been provided to the women for their safety.
