Delhi may get flooded by tomorrow evening

As heavy rains continue in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the Yamuna River crossed its danger mark following the release of more water at Haryana’s Hathni Kund Barrage by the authorities.

As Haryana released 5 Lakh cusec of water from the Barrage, the government of Delhi called for an emergency meeting to discuss the situation.

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has already issued a public alert as the water is expected to reach Delhi by tomorrow evening. He further asked the people to corporate with the administration in the process of evacuation.

According to the reports, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department of the city government has made preparations to evacuate 100 people residing in low-lying areas.

The water level of the Yamuna River at Delhi Railway Bridge was measured at 204.96 meters. This exceeds the danger level of 204.83 meters but is below the previous highest flood level of 207.49 meters recorded in 1978. It is expected to rise to 205.40 meters by 10 pm on July 28.
