Uttar Pradesh: Munna Bajrangi, a dreaded gangster was shot dead inside a jail in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Bajrangi was to be produced in the court this morning. A jail inmate of the rival gang, Sunil Rathiat fired at him at about 6:30 in the morning, killing him on the spot.
On Sunday, Munna Bajrangi was transferred from Jhansi jail to Baghpat jail, he was to be produced in the court with the connection in the murder case of BJP lawmaker, Krishnanand Rai. The gangster has as many as 40 cases registered against him in connection with murder and extortion.

Within hours of the gangster’s killing inside the jail, opposition in the state accused the government of poor law and order. “I have ordered a judicial inquiry and suspension of the jailor. Such an incident occurring inside jail premises is a serious matter. Will conduct an in-depth investigation and strict action to be taken against those responsible,” said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A team of investigators are probing the case.

“A convict lodged in the jail shot him dead and hid the pistol in a gutter. A few days ago, we had alerted the UP Chief Minister of threat to Munna Bajrangi’s life,” said his lawyer V Srivastava.
Bajrangi’s wife, on June 29, had told the police that there was a conspiracy by the rival gang to kill him. “I want to tell UP Chief Minister Adityanath ji that my husband’s life is in danger. A conspiracy is being hatched to kill him in a fake encounter,” said the gangster’s wife Seema Singh.
