The passport scheme launched by the Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj is a new scheme by which an applicant can apply for passports from anywhere in India. This scheme was launched on the occasion of the Sixth Passport Seva Divas.

With the launch of this scheme, applicants can now go to a Regional Passport Office, under the RPO they wish to submit their application irrespective of whether the present residential address specified in the application form lies within the jurisdiction of the selected RPO or not.

The police verification, if required will be done on the specified address, then the passport will be printed and dispatched from the selected RPO, said an official in a statement.
