An ode to the police forces in Delhi

Date:

For the first time, India will have its first Police Museum in Delhi to pay tribute to the police forces of the country. The National Police Museum will establish the property in Chanakyapuri.

The museum will exhibit the history, uniforms, artefacts, and the gear of the centre and state police forces. The inauguration of the museum is scheduled for October 21 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The central police organisations and state police forces have been told to collect historical documents, gazetted information related to the police forces, and unusual weapons and uniforms to display them at the museum.

Some of the confirmed items expected to be displayed at the National Police Museum will include brass insignia, operational and ceremonial head gears, uniforms, belts, batons, unique photographs of dog squads, old copies and columns of the Indian Police Act.

There would also be an exclusive gallery of the policemen killed while performing their duties ornamented with prestigious medals. There will be a dedicated police staff to take the visitors around as guides through audio-visual tours.
