In respect to the recent plastic ban in Maharashtra, a restaurant in Pune has started delivering food in steel lunch boxes. The boxes are delivered on a returnable basis so that it can be used for other customers as well.
For takeaway customers, a security deposit of Rs. 200 is taken by the restaurant which is refunded on returning the boxes.

The restaurant owner, Ganesh Shetty says that they welcome the state’s government’s decision to ban plastic in the state as it’s in the favour of the environment.
However, due to the plastic ban, many restaurants are facing challenges of different kinds, especially the chains.
He also said that due to the lack of delivery options, food delivery apps like Zomato and Swiggy have stopped taking online orders which is causing inconvenience among customers.
