Clashes break out in Anantnag; Pelters attack security forces after Eid prayers

Anantnag: While the nation is rejoicing the festival of Eid, valley witnessed something flipped as heavy clashes broke out between forces and stone pelters in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir which claimed a life of 20-year old man.

The incident took place just after the morning Eid prayers when a group of youngsters attacked the police and security forces after which the forces had to resort to tear gas to control the crowd.

Earlier on Friday, Five persons, including two policemen, were injured as terrorists opened fire on a security forces’ party carrying out random vehicle checking in Kak Sarai area of Srinagar.

Security forces had established special checkpoints in many parts of the city, a day after senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari and his two personal security guards were killed in a terrorist attack.

“During the checking of vehicles at Kak Sarai, mts opened fire on the cops, who also retaliated,” a police official said.

Previously, Aurangzeb of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Camp Shadimarg was abducted on Thursday morning. The report of the abduction surfaced after a pharmacist complained to the police that an Army jawan who had taken a lift from him had been seized by masked men who had stopped the vehicle.

Aurangzeb, who was unarmed at the time, was on his way home having been granted leave to celebrate Eid. He had been the ‘buddy’ of Major Rohit Shukla who had killed dreaded terrorist Sameer Tiger. His bullet-ridden body was recovered at the Gusoo village in Pulwama on Thursday night.

Aurangzeb’s father, himself an Army veteran, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to avenge his son’s murder within 72 hours.
