IMD has issued bad weather warning in northern states including Haryana thunderstorm warning 7th and 8th of May 2018. This was followed by a notice from Director Secondary Education, Haryana to all educational institutions to be shut owing to life and property damage caused due to thunderstorm last week.
“Thunderstorm accompanied with squall and hail very likely at isolated places in J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttharakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi”, said the IMD notice.
Apart from which heavy rain is very likely at isolated places in six northeastern states — Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura tomorrow, according to the Indian Meterological Department (IMD)
Haryana education minister Ram Bilas Sharma announces all schools to be closed across the state on May 7 and 8 as a preventive measure due to bad weather warning.
Gurgaon administration spokesperson confirmed to NewsMobile that the schools have been shut as a precautionary measure.
Parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan were hit by thunderstorm and dust storm last week. Villages around Agra were worst hit, where 48 people died and 19 deaths at Rajasthan’s Bharatpur.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cut short his election campaign in Karnataka, and visited storm hit parts of Agra and Kanpur yesterday, and visited the injured in hospital.
