Over 700 police officials have been deployed around Gujranwala today on Shab-e-Barat to avoid any unforeseen incident on the streets. Ashfaq Khan, the police officer of G-town has addressed the security arrangements made from their end to maintain peace, law and order in the city.
Mosques and other important sites have observed the prime security arrangements, in case of an emergency. He has banned the use of arms, ammunition and fireworks. He has also prohibited the use of loudspeakers in the mosques, and in case of violation ordered for punishment.
He has appealed to the clerics to promote peace and harmony in the society. He has also stated that “hate speeches will be dealt with iron hands.” A control room has been set up in the CPO office to supervise and inspect the traffic and arrangements.
Shab-e-Barat is called the night of forgiveness in which the Muslims pray all night to Allah to bestow them with his blessings and forgive them for the sins committed in the past and processions are carried out on the streets in full swing. Every country in the world celebrates this differently, some distribute sweets while a few celebrate with fireworks.
