Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took to Twitter to announce that every village in India is also electrified. He informed that Leisang, a village in Manipur’s Senapati District is the last one to receive electricity in India on Saturday.
PM Modi informed, “The mammoth task of taking electricity to every village of India has finally been achieved, the government”.
Further PM made an announcement in a series of tweets that naming Leisang, a village in central Manipur’s Senapati district, as the last one to receive electricity on Saturday.
According to PM Modi, a village is considered when it has a basic electrical infrastructure and 10 percent of its households and public places — including schools, panchayat office and health centre — have electricity.

Modi twitted, “Leisang village in Manipur, like the thousands of other villages across India, has been powered and empowered! This news will make every Indian proud and delighted,”
Previously in the year 2015 Independence Day speech, PM promised the citizens of the country that all the villages where electricity has not reached yet will get it within 1000 days.
To create basic power infrastructure and connectivity, the Modi government has also announced a scheme named the Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana, after the famous BJP ideologist Deen Dayal Upadhyaya.

Even after this announcement, there is household which has not yet received electricity yet. There are just villages that have got it but not the households.
The reasons for this are poor families usually do not have funds for connection charges, BPL cards that can make this service free for them. Lack of awareness of this scheme is another major drawback of why village households do not have electricity.
The next plan of Modi government is to take electricity to every household.
