Date:

Two days after stunning Olympic champions England  in their opening match of the 2018 Commonwealth games at Gold Coast; Indian womens’s hockey team advances to semi-final round by defeating South Africa by 1-0.

Indian team skipper Rani Rampal’s timely goal with 13 minutes to spare for full time proved to be the difference between both the sides.

After   collecting a through pass from Vandana Karatia, Rani turned around and beat the goalkeeper with a neat shot taking the team for semi-final.

After a shocking defeat by world no 26 Wales in their opening match of pool A, Indian team managed to come back with a brilliant performance.

Although India and England share the same 9 points, goal difference placed India at second in Pool A.  South Africa who are placed 3rd with 4 points will face Wales who managed to get 3 points in their next match.
