System failure leading to growth of terrorism in Kashmir: Farooq Abdullah

Date:

Known for his controversial comments, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Farooq Abdulla has come up with another headline-grabbing statement. Abdullah seemed concerned over the degrading situation in the Valley. He came down heavily on India saying that Kashmiris are not slaves of India and advised the country to respect their honour and dignity.

Talking to the media, Dr Abdullah said, “Situation has taken a dangerous turn. Little kids are ready with guns today. Terrorism will come from there (Pakistan), but if we don’t provide them support, it won’t be successful.”

Abdullah blamed the system for the growth of current situations in the region saying that system failure is leading to growth in terrorism in Kashmir. He also expressed anger over being unsuccessful in tackling it.

The National Conference chief asserted that the efforts of the government are not showing any positive change in the conditions of the state. Farooq said, “The claims that demonetization has put an end to stone pelting in the valley have fallen flat as the youth were now taking to guns. The situation, therefore, cannot be allowed to drift anymore. It called for earnest initiatives to reach out to the people.” He also requested the Central government to resolve the politically important issues.

Farooq Abdullah has always supported the views of the people of Jammu and Kashmir with the opinion that India and Pakistan do not have any stake in the state. He had earlier been found speaking over issues like partition and presence of Indian Army in the state.

Also, earlier this week he supported the opinion of the former captain of Pakistan cricket team Shahid Afridi. Shahid had tweeted over the “appalling and worrisome” situation in the state. Farooq replied to Afridi’s tweet saying that everybody had condemned the killing in Kashmir. He added that very nation was condemning the killing and the killing must stop.
